A stronger voice for Ghana’s taxpayers
Every Ghanaian is a taxpayer. Whether you run a business in Kumasi, trade at Makola, earn a salary in Takoradi or simply buy credit for your phone in Tamale, part of what you pay funds the state. That makes every one of us a shareholder in Ghana — with the right to ask how our money is raised and how it is spent.
Taxpayers League Ghana exists to give those shareholders a voice. We educate citizens about their rights and obligations, scrutinise the national budget and public spending, and advocate for a tax system that is simple, fair and predictable — and for a government that delivers real value in return.
We are non-partisan and independent, and we are proud members of the World Taxpayers Associations network, which links taxpayer groups in more than 60 countries.
Four principles behind everything we do
Taxes are the foundation of the social contract between citizens and the state. We work so that both sides of that contract are honoured.
Fair Taxation
Taxes that are reasonable, simple to understand, applied equally and designed to encourage enterprise rather than punish it.
Transparency
Open budgets, published contracts and clear reporting so that every citizen can follow the cedi from collection to expenditure.
Taxpayer Rights
Respect, privacy, due process and the right to object and appeal — protections every taxpayer is entitled to under Ghanaian law.
Value for Money
Prudent, accountable management of public resources that delivers roads, schools, hospitals and security worthy of what citizens pay.
