Citizens standing up for every taxpayer
Taxpayers League Ghana is an independent, non-partisan, citizen-led advocacy organisation. We speak for the people who fund the Ghanaian state — salaried workers, traders, farmers, entrepreneurs, professionals, students and families — and we hold that every cedi collected in taxes is held in trust for them.
We believe taxation should not be viewed only as a way of raising government revenue. It is the core of the social contract between citizens and the state: citizens contribute, and in return government must collect taxes fairly and use public resources efficiently to deliver quality infrastructure, healthcare, education, security and other essential services.
Our work combines public education, budget scrutiny, research and constructive engagement with policymakers, revenue authorities, Parliament, the media and civil society.

Our Mission
To protect and promote the interests of Ghanaian taxpayers by championing fair and simple taxation, transparency and accountability in public finance, and an informed, engaged citizenry.
Our Vision
A Ghana where taxes are fair, public funds are managed prudently and openly, and every citizen sees real value for the taxes they pay.
Our Promise
To remain independent and non-partisan, to base our positions on evidence, and to speak plainly so that every Ghanaian can take part in the conversation.
What guides us
- Integrity — we hold ourselves to the same standards we ask of government.
- Independence — we are not aligned with any political party.
- Fairness — the tax burden should be shared equitably and applied consistently.
- Transparency — openness is the best protection for the public purse.
- Accountability — those who manage public money must answer for it.
- Citizen participation — good fiscal policy is built with the people, not just for them.
- Enterprise — a sensible tax system rewards work, saving and investment.
- Respect — every taxpayer deserves courtesy and due process.
When taxpayers are informed, governance improves
Public budgets are complex, and too often the people who pay for them are left out of the conversation. Informed taxpayers comply more willingly, ask sharper questions and demand better results. Policymakers, in turn, make better decisions when they hear directly from those affected.
By strengthening that two-way relationship, we help build a fiscal system that earns public trust — and a country where taxes translate into visible development.
